My drawing is my sister walking down the stairs holding a balloon. With this piece I was wanting to make it as realistic as possible.
The fine liner drawing was meant to represent a wish/freedom. To make the balloon stand out I used water colour paints and with the outline of the drawing I used fine liners. Some lines are thicker than others and that was to create as much tone and  texture as possible.
To make the balloon as realistic as possible I was wanting to have the sunlight reflecting off the balloon. For that I had to use different shades of blue and use them in different thicknesses to make some of the balloon lighter than others.
I was pleased with the finished product. The balloon stood out from the picture, just as I had hoped.
If I was to modify anything in the picture, I would have made the balloon a bit more life sized and I would have added more texture and tone to the fine liner areas.
If I was to redo this picture I would spend more time on making the body look more realistic.  View Larger
